In early September, GSL will have the privilege of hosting Mrs. Jessica Abell to serve as Parish Intern for three months. Appointed to GSL by Bishop Phoebe Roaf, Jessica is in the process to be ordained a vocational deacon. Time among us will include a variety of observing, training, and serving in worship, pastoral and formation roles as organized and supervised by the Rev. Ollie V. Rencher, Rector.
Jessica Abell is the Head Chaplain and Director of Spiritual Life at St. George’s Independent School, where has served since 2007. In her role Jessica works with a team of chaplains to ensure that spiritual life is a vital part of each school day. She recently completed the ACTS (Alternative Clergy Training at Sewanee) at the School of Theology and is also a Master’s Level Teacher. Jessica is married to Peter Abell and they have three children, Amos, Molly, and Jack. She and her family were longtime members of Church of the Annunciation and have recently been attending services at Holy Apostles. Jessica has a sister-in-law, also named Jessica Abell, that worked at Grace St. Luke’s and is a minister in Denver, Colorado.
